Carter Etgen's Digital Portfolio

My name is Carter Etgen, and I am a third year student at Appalachian State University.  I am majoring in History secondary education, and plan to teach at my old high school once I graduate.  I live in Raleigh, NC and have lived their since I started college, originally living in Cary, NC.  I've had a passion for history my whole life, and once I saw how poorly the subject was taught in my school, with history jobs given to coaches for sports that had little to no background in teaching history, and would just throw down a textbook, I knew I wanted to become a teacher to show just how important history is.  I hope to one day return to that high school and prove to them that this subject which I have decided to devote my life to is not worthless.
